Pitch Perfect: creating a concise and compelling elevator pitch
Explaining your research to non-experts is an essential skill for engaging any audience with your science. Frank Nuijens will teach you how to:
- Sift through the mountain of information you hold in your head and identify the essential nuggets for a specific audience
- Transform 'dry' facts into a story
- Make a lasting impression on your audience when they can only spare a minute of their time to listen to you
Upon completing this workshop:
- you can create a good elevator pitch using the Message Box
- you know how to tell a story with the ABT method
- you will be familiar with tools that help you popularize science
Preparation: During this workshop, you will work on your own pitch. Therefore, think in advance of a topic that you want to practice with. Ideally, it should be your research subject.
